About Grand Canyon Orientation

(Grand Canyon, Arizona - AZ, USA)

The Grand Canyon is without doubt one of the most striking regions of America and stands in the heart of Arizona. Famous throughout the world for its spectacular scenery, the Grand Canyon features a number of distinct areas, which are regularly visited by tourists.

Grand Canyon Orientation: Layout and Directions

A particularly popular region of the Grand Canyon is the South Rim area, which is located to the south of the Colorado River. Home to the majority of the Grand Canyon's main facilities, shops, restaurants and hotels, the South Rim encompasses both the Desert View Drive and Grand Canyon Village. Also worth noting, the South Rim contains Mather Point, El Tovar Hotel and the Grand Canyon Railway.

The Grand Canyon's North Rim stands on the Kaibab Plateau and is a much more peaceful spot, offering many impressive views. Although these two areas seems fairly close, the journey is actually around 320 km / 200 miles and during the winter months, heavy snowfalls make the North Rim difficult to reach.
